How is it that I know everything about you, all the concerts you’ve gone to, what you had for lunch, your dog’s name… and that yesterday he threw up on the brand-new rug you bought from Temu, but I’ve got no idea how you’re actually doing or what you’re going through?
We’re in touch all the time. We text. We react to stories. We like each other’s pics, send memes. But when was the last time we actually really talked? When was the last time we sat down together without checking our phones, watching the time or mentally composing tomorrow’s to-do list? Hug? Laugh until our bellies ache?
Sure, we all lead busy lives. We make time for work, obviously. Errands, appointments… and somehow, for endless scrolling. The people we love quietly move into the “let’s do coffee soon” category. Before you know it, a week goes by. Then a month. A full year.
That’s where these sessions came from. A chance to slow things down and spend a few hours with someone who matters to you. To share something real. Alive. Fun. Every session is different, but they have in common the time that’s intentionally set aside for the two of you.
Anyone can come as that “two”: friends, siblings, mother and daughter, even an actual couple. Anyone who enjoys spending time together and would like a little more of it.
Some people choose a sound massage. You settle in, get comfy, and let the sound of the singing bowls do what it does. Slow down your breath. Soften the body. Soothe the mind as time takes on a completely new meaning. You’re in the same vibration, literally. And that’s how you leave the session, a bit closer in shared experience and vibe.
Others choose a semi-private yoga session. Not partner- or acro-yoga. Just movement, breath, and presence. The practice is shared, but always bearing in mind your body and the given moment. One of my best yoga memories is still a class I shared with a friend. It was perfect: fun, intimate and relaxed. We left feeling lighter, with softer words and gentler presence.
Then there’s my favourite. A four-hour session intertwining movement, breath, touch and silence. There’s lots of space to talk, play, explore different, simple ways of being present and caring for each other. Relaxing together.
Four hours may sound like a lot when we’re so used to running on auto-pilot. But when was the last time you gave someone you care about four uninterrupted hours?
All three experiences are different, but what I love about them remains the same. Slowing down. Phones stop mattering. The to-do list can wait. And underneath all the noise, finding something that wasn’t missing after all but somehow got forgotten on the sidelines. Laughter. Joy. The love that connects you.
This is precisely why these sessions exist.
To give us a chance to reconnect.
To be present with someone we care for.
